Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, commonly called a “nose job,” at Plastic Surgery Tijuana, is the reshaping of the nose to make it more proportionate to the rest of the facial features.

Nose surgery can also correct damage done by injury to the nose or provide relief for people with breathing problems due to irregular nasal structure, such as a deviated septum.

Perhaps you feel your nose is too large, too wide, too crooked, or too long. Injuries can also alter the shape of the nose in unwelcome ways, even causing breathing problems.

Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose to refine its appearance and proportion in relation to other facial features. Bringing the nose into balance with the rest of the face can dramatically improve one’s appearance and boost self-confidence.

If you wish you had a new nose, consider rhinoplasty, the cosmetic surgery that can give your nose a more naturally attractive shape.

Rhinoplasty procedure specifics

Since nose surgery can help make a variety of desired changes in the nose shape or size, there are a variety of surgical techniques Dr. Rafael Camberos may use.

Depending on your goals and anatomy, you may undergo one of the following:

  • Closed Rhinoplasty: incisions are inside the nostrils, and adjustments are made internally
  • Open Rhinoplasty: used for more complex procedures
  • Tip Plasty: reserved for cases where only the tip of the nose needs correcting
Recovery

Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, so you will be able to go home shortly after surgery.

Your nose will be bandaged with a splint placed around it, and there may be some gauze packing inside the nose. This can be somewhat uncomfortable, but it is temporary—about 1 week is typical.

After surgery you need to rest, but you are encouraged to get up and walk around frequently. Post-operative pain can be managed with prescription medication, which many patients only need for a few days before switching to over-the-counter alternatives.

The typical timeframe for getting back to work or school is 10 to 14 days, and non-contact exercise can be gradually resumed beginning about 3 weeks after surgery.

Seeing your results

After so many years of wishing for a more attractive nose, you’ll no doubt be excited to see your results for the first time.

We will go ahead and tell you that it will take a few weeks for your nose to begin resembling its final form.

By this time, your nose will be looking good, and will only continue to improve over time. Subtle changes are expected for up to 12 months.
